What We Do

Organise Events

Welcome Back Drinks || Welcome Back Drinks are held at the beginning of each term (i.e. three times a year) in Oxford itself and is extremely popular with our members, with attendance rates usually exceeding 75%. The event presents a chance for students to catch up with friends before term begins.

Chinese New Year Reunion Dinner || The annual Chinese New Year Reunion Dinner, organised every year close to the festival itself, is extremely well-received and almost always fully booked, with about 120 members attending. The meal is usually held at a Chinese restaurant in London, nearby Oxford. The event seeks to re-create the festive mood and familial feeling for our members who have to spend CNY away from home.  For many, this is also their best chance to satisfy their cravings for authentic Chinese cuisine.

Ski Trip || Our flagship activity features a week of snow, cold and fun at homely ski resort. Usually held at the end of each (calendar) year in France or Switzerland, the ski trip is usually a highlight for our members. During the trip, our members get to learn proper skiing techniques, bond over hot beverages and recharge for the next term.

Host Dialogues

Dialogue Sessions || OUMSSA has hosted dialogue sessions between our members and a wide range of distinguished speakers. Previous speakers include Mr Tan Chuan-Jin (Speaker of Parliament), Ms Sim Ann (Senior Minister of State) and Mr Bilahari Kausikan (former diplomat and civil servant). Recently, we organised the BuzzSeries Talk and Dinner, hosting lawyer Josephus Tan. These dialogue sessions are popular amongst our members, who are keen to discuss and reflect on critical public policy and social issues.

Welfare Matters

Welfare Packs || It is extremely important for us to be able to support our members during stressful periods of the school term. We hope to continue to be able to provide ample support to all our members on a regular basis.

Communal Items || With initiatives like the communal hotpot, OUMSSA members are able to bond and have a taste of home through a warm hotpot get-together.
